The SMH has just released this article on price rise. Although money is not the main reason someone should quit smoking, with the price increase, it certainly adds fuel to anyone who is contemplating giving up the cigarettes. The new laws will now advocate a 12.5 % increase per year and could see the cost of cigarettes going from $25 to $40 a pack.
Currently a pack a day smoker spends on average $7,500 per year. This price rise will take the cost for an average smoker well over $10,000 per year.
So it really does save to quit smoking. Consider what $10,000 a year or $50,000 in 5 years in savings or in an investment could do for you?
